Bethânia returns to her land, where the family’s old sugar mill was built, the Wanderley Mill. Between photographs, fantastic creatures, bills to pay and workers claiming their rights to the land, Bethânia faces herself in a present where both the past and the future look menacing.

Plot

Bethania Wanderley (Maeve Jinkings) does not like the rural environment of the 'Zona da Mata', but has to return to the place where she was born, a decaying sugarcane mill, to prevent the former cane workers from taking over the land. Faced with the leader of the association, Zé (José Maria Alves) and Alessandra (Dandara de Morais), who is cleaning the house to observe the owner, Bethânia will have to deal with his past and his prejudices.
