Indochina, 1945. While the French are harassed by both the Japanese army and the Vietnamese rebels, private Robert Tassen, driven by the memory of a tragedy of which he is the only survivor, embarks on the search for the mysterious and cruel Võ Bình Yên, one of the leaders of the insurrection.

Plot

Indochina, 1945. Robert Tassen, a young French soldier, joins his brother Henri in Hanoi. During an attack by the Japanese, Robert is the only survivor of a massacre and witnesses the execution of Henri and his wife, who was pregnant. Blinded by vengeance, Robert engages in a solitary and secret quest to find the assassins. But his meeting with Maï, a young Indochinese prostitute, will change his beliefs and his hatred.
