Documentary

Chico Buarque is a constant presence in Brazil's art scene and makes up its citizen's popular culture. This wealth in music, poems, theater and novels has been created over the last 50 years and in this film Chico Buarque converses about his memories, shows, daily life, work methods, creative process, in summary all his trajectory. The musician’s search for his German brother, whom he never got to meet, serves as one of the axis for the narrative.

Plot

A sincere and delicate film by one of the most important, talented, and sensitive composers of Brazilian Popular Music; perhaps its best lyricist. An artist who managed to combine in his poetry an intensely lyrical sensitivity with acute social criticism, amalgamated by a deep psychological understanding of human emotions. The same perfection with which he mixed popular culture with the sophistication of its harmonies and poetics. As it could not fail to be in these dark times, the same humanist political vision that made him the target of the Brazilian dictatorship now places him again as the target of the new extreme right.Better like that, your work can only be understood by those who have tolerance and empathy as their faith.
