Plot

China: A Century of Revolution - The Mao Years, 1949-1976 is the second in the series of three films depicting the struggle of China to realize its economic and political goals. Now firmly under Communist Party leadership, following the direction of Chairman Mao Zedong, China must pursue the security of economic strength in order to support its enormous population. Rarely seen footage is used to illustrate the changes the country must undergo to feed its people and still adhere to strict party doctrine. Mao's Great Leap Forward resulted in a terrible famine.
