Vienna around 1900. Karl Hofeneder, owner of a dance school, puts great importance on teaching his students not only the right steps but also good behavior. Twenty years ago, the bachelor lost the love of his life to his friend and competitor Georges Roublée. The two have been enemies ever since. Hofeneder is annoyed when he finds out that Roublée wants to open a second dance school locally.

Plot

Dancing school owner Hofeneder (Hans Moser) faces of a sudden competition from Roublée who has opened a dancing school of his own nearby. It turns out that Roublée is an old rival of Hofeneder. Roublée has taken the love interest of Hofeneder and married her. The grown up daughter of Roublée secretly took dancing lessons at Hofeneders dancing school as her father had forbidden her to enjoy already dancing distractions in her age. At Hofeneder she learns to know and love Xandl (Hans Holt) who works as a dance teacher at Hofeneder but in reality is somebody of the Vienna upper class. After some funny complications have occurred everything leads to a happy ending.
